| This is a fairly common winter visitor
to the entire region. Howell and Webb do not include the northernmost
parts of the Peten, for which I have no information, or the
coastal parts of the pacific slope. I have seen birds at the
Rio Jiboa and Walter Deininger, which suggest that the Pacific
lowlands should be included in this range. At least one bird
at Walter Deininger was seen regularly over several months and
was clearly wintering. It is also common t see large numbers
migrating through in spring and autumn. I am most familiar with
these migrations in El Salvador, where they end to stick to
the central highlands, often moving in large groups with Swainson’s
Hawks and Turkey Vultures. |
