Collared
Forest-Falcon
Micrastur
semitorquatus
|
 |
| This species is found along both
slopes, though is not found in the higher parts of the central
highlands. Collared Forest-Falcons have a very distinctive falling
Oww call, that is often heard at dawn and dusk. Despite hearing
them regularly, I have still only ever seen one in the region
(at La Montañona). It has always surprised me how few
I see. For example, I hear them regularly at Perquin, where
I am often in the field from dawn to dusk, but I have still
never seen one there. I have also heard them at Barra de Santiago,
Nancuchiname and Walter Deininger, which are all in the Pacific
lowlands. I have not come across them in Guatemala and my only
records from Honduras are from Las Marias. |
