Leach’s Storm-Petrel

Oceanodroma leucorhoa

Jehl reported seeing one or two birds on three days during counts off the Pacific coast of northern Central America between 10th and 17th April 1973. He reports that one of the birds off Oaxaca had a dark rump. This should be taken into account when separating this species from Black Storm-Petrel. I did not see this species on either of my pelagic trips, which were off the coast of Guatemala on 11th May and off El Salvador on 2nd July.
