Roadside Hawk

Buteo magnirostris

Tom Jenner
This is the most commonly encountered raptor over much of northern Central America. Howell and Webb does not include some of the interior within the range, but, although less common, they seem to be present throughout the region in all but the highest areas. As the name suggests, they are commonly seen sitting on telegraph poles beside roads.
