This species has a localised distribution throughout northern
Central America, with Honduras marking the southern extent of
its range. I think of it as more of a highland species, but
they are also found in the Peten of northern Guatemala. Howell
and Webb give only a couple of sites in Honduras, where Bonta
and Anderson describe the species as uncommon, but place a question
mark beside it to indicate that there is little data to give
a firm conclusion. Land describes the species as fairly common
in Guatemala, though local and easily overlooked. My only sighting
in Honduras was at La Tigra. I have seen them in Guatemala at
San Carlos Sija and Volcan Atitlan where I saw them on both
of my two visits to each location. My only sightings in El Salvador
have been at Los Andes, which is on Santa Ana Volcano, near
to Cerro Verde.
